Trading from a phone
Forex trading apps, compared
Forex trading on a phone is an Android market. Libertex and FxPro passed 10 million Google Play installs, RoboForex and ForTrade a million; on the App Store the same apps hold a few hundred ratings, and seven of the nine are missing from the US store entirely. Ratings below are store data, checked 24 August 2026.
Store data read from the App Store and Google Play
The apps, side by side
Ordered by Google Play installs, which is a count of people rather than an opinion. Store ratings move week to week and are averaged per country storefront, so each figure below says which store and which country it came from.

App Store availability was checked in five storefronts — US, UK, South Africa, UAE and Singapore — and the rating shown is from the storefront with the most ratings, named in the cell. Google Play figures are from the store's own listing. Both move week to week, which is why the date is on this page rather than implied.
Two different things get called a forex trading app
The first is the broker's own app: Deriv, Libertex, FxPro, RoboForex, ForTrade, Alpari, Tickmill and LiteFinance each publish one, and it is where you open the account, fund it and trade. The second is MetaTrader 4 or 5, published by MetaQuotes Software Corp. rather than by any broker, into which you log in with credentials your broker issues.
The difference matters when something goes wrong. A MetaTrader app updated by MetaQuotes will behave the same whichever broker you use it with, and a broker cannot fix a problem inside it. A broker's own app is the broker's responsibility end to end, which also means its quality is a fact about that broker rather than about MetaQuotes.
Bybit sits on the far side of this line. Its own app, with 10 million-plus Google Play installs, is a crypto exchange app; the CFD account that carries forex pairs runs on MetaTrader 5. If you want forex on a Bybit account, the app you install was not written by Bybit.
Check who publishes the app, not just whose name is on it
App stores name the publisher, and the name is frequently not the company whose terms you accepted. Deriv's Android app is published by Deriv Services Ltd while its iOS listing sits under Deriv Investments (Europe) Ltd. RoboForex publishes both its apps as RoboForex (CY) Ltd, though the site tells you the broker is RoboForex Ltd in Belize. Alpari's iOS app comes from Exinity Works FZE and its Android listing from Alpari Group, while the entity named on alpari.com is Parlance Trading Ltd in the Comoros.
None of this is necessarily wrong — large brokers run several companies, and a technology arm publishing the app is ordinary. It is worth knowing anyway, because the publisher line is one of the few places where the group structure is visible without reading a legal page, and because a search for the brand in a store also returns apps by companies with no connection to the broker at all.
The practical rule: install from the link on the broker's own site, and check that the publisher shown in the store matches what that page told you to expect.
Why the same app has two different ratings
App Store ratings are averaged per country storefront. LiteFinance's iOS app is 4.63 from 122 ratings in the US store and 1 from 2 ratings in South Africa — the same app id on the same version 3.1.15, two answers. The South African listing still carries the pre-rename title, LiteForex mobile trading. Any page that prints a single App Store score without naming the country is showing you an average of whichever store it happened to query.
The platforms disagree too, and by more than rounding. Libertex holds 4.2 from 81,900 reviews on Google Play against 1.8 from 15 ratings on the App Store storefront where it is listed. With fifteen ratings, one bad month moves the score by a whole star; with eighty thousand, it does not move at all. Read the number of ratings before the rating.
Install counts are the steadier signal. Google Play publishes them in ranges, and they say how many people got as far as installing: Libertex, FxPro and Bybit are past 10 million, RoboForex and ForTrade past one million, Deriv, Alpari and LiteFinance past half a million, and Tickmill Trader is a new app at ten thousand.
What to check before you install
That the app covers your account type. FxPro and LiteFinance publish separate cTrader apps; using the wrong one leaves you logged into a platform your account does not trade on.
That it is a trading app at all. The same brand publishes partner and analytics apps — LiteFinance Partner and LiteFinance cTrader sit next to LiteFinance in the store, and a partner cabinet cannot place a trade.
That it is available where you are. Seven of the nine apps here are absent from the US App Store, which is what you would expect from brokers that do not accept US clients. If an app is missing from your country's store, that is usually the broker's licensing rather than a technical fault.
That the store data is recent. Every rating on this page was read on 24 August 2026. The iOS listings were last updated at very different times: Tickmill Trader in May 2026, Libertex and RoboForex in June, LiteFinance in July, and Deriv, ForTrade, Alpari, FxPro and Bybit in August.
Questions people ask
What is the best forex trading app?
By installs, Libertex and FxPro lead the brokers on this page, both past 10 million Google Play installs, with Google Play ratings of 4.2 and 4.3. Installs measure how many people tried an app, not how good it is for you: the app worth installing is the one belonging to the broker whose account you actually intend to open.
Do forex trading apps cost anything?
The apps are free to download in both stores. What costs money is trading through them — spread, commission and swap on the account behind the app — and those are set by the broker, not by the app.
Is MetaTrader 4 or 5 a broker app?
No. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 are published by MetaQuotes Software Corp., and brokers give you login credentials for their servers. If your broker offers only MetaTrader, the mobile experience you get is MetaQuotes' work rather than the broker's.
Why can't I find a broker's app in the App Store?
Because store listings are per country. Seven of the nine apps compared here are absent from the US storefront while appearing in the UK, South African, UAE or Singapore ones — brokers publish where they accept clients.
Are App Store and Google Play ratings comparable?
Not directly. App Store scores are averaged per country storefront, so the same app can show 4.63 in one country and 1 in another, and iOS listings for these brokers often carry only a few dozen ratings against tens of thousands on Google Play. Compare the number of ratings first.
Can you trade forex on a phone as well as on a desktop?
The order types and the charts are there, and every broker on this page publishes a mobile app or supports MetaTrader on mobile. What a phone does not give you is screen space for several timeframes at once, which is why most traders use a phone to manage open positions rather than to plan new ones.
Practising before you fund an account? Every broker here offers a demo account — the same apps, with virtual money instead of yours.
