The app is not the variable

Gold trading apps

No broker publishes an app for gold alone: XAU/USD trades in the same app as every other instrument, or in MetaTrader, where the publisher is MetaQuotes rather than your broker. What differs is the account behind the icon — the spread on a 100-ounce lot ranges from about $12 to $32 among the brokers we track.

Ordered by what a lot of gold costs, not by app rating. Store figures describe the software; the cost column describes what trading gold through it actually charges you.

Store figures read from Google Play on 24 August 2026; gold costs converted to dollars per 100-ounce lot from each broker's own quotes and published spreads. Where a broker routes gold through MetaTrader, the app you install is MetaQuotes' and identical across brokers.

There is no gold app

Gold is an instrument, not a product line. It appears as XAU/USD in the same broker app that carries currency pairs, indices and shares, and on MetaTrader it appears in the same terminal as everything else — published by MetaQuotes rather than by your broker, with fifty million installs behind it.

So a page ranking «gold apps» by app quality is ranking general trading apps under a narrower headline. The variable that actually changes when you trade gold is the account: its spread on a 100-ounce lot, its overnight swap, and its leverage on metals, which regulators cap separately from currencies.

That is why the table above sorts by cost rather than by rating. The store figures are there because they describe something real — how many people use the software and what they think of it — but they say nothing about gold.

What to check in an app before trading gold in it

Whether the spread is visible before you open a position, and in what unit. Gold quotes in dollars per ounce, so a spread of 0.32 on the screen is $32 on a standard lot — a scale most people misread the first time.

Whether the app shows the swap. Gold's overnight cost is large relative to its spread — RoboForex publishes −60 points a night on a long position against an $18 spread to enter — and an app that hides the swap in a submenu is hiding the biggest number in the trade.

Whether the position size can be set small enough. At $4,600 an ounce, a 100-ounce lot is around $460,000 of exposure; a 0.01-lot position is $4,600 and a pip is ten cents. If the app's minimum is a full lot, it is not an app for a small account.

If your broker routes gold through MetaTrader

Then the app you install is MetaQuotes' work, identical for every broker that licenses it, and the publisher line in the store must read MetaQuotes Software Corp. The broker's contribution is the server behind it — the quotes, the spread, the swap and the execution.

Which is worth knowing when comparing «apps» for gold: two brokers offering MetaTrader offer the same app. The comparison that matters is on the numbers in the table above, and the full working for them is on our gold brokers page.

Questions people ask

What is the best app for trading gold?

There is no gold-specific app. XAU/USD trades in the broker's general app or in MetaTrader, so the question becomes which account is behind it: on published and captured figures the spread on a 100-ounce lot runs from about $12 at LiteFinance and $16 at Deriv to $32 at FxPro.

Can I trade gold on MetaTrader mobile?

Yes, as XAU/USD, and the app is the same one every MetaTrader broker uses — published by MetaQuotes Software Corp. with fifty million Google Play installs. Your broker supplies the server, the spread and the swap.

How much does one lot of gold cost to trade?

A standard lot is 100 ounces, roughly $460,000 of exposure at $4,600 an ounce. The spread costs $12 to $32 depending on the broker, and holding overnight costs considerably more — RoboForex publishes −60 points a night on a long position.

Do gold apps show the swap?

Some bury it. Since gold's overnight cost dwarfs its spread, an app that does not show the swap on the order ticket is hiding the largest cost in the trade — check it in the instrument specification before holding a position past the rollover hour.

Which broker app has the best rating?

Among the apps we track, Libertex, FxPro and Bybit have all passed 10 million Google Play installs with ratings between 4.2 and 4.6. Ratings describe the software rather than the gold conditions behind it, which is why this page sorts by cost instead.

Getting the terminal itself is a different question — which version to download and where from. The full cost arithmetic for every account here is on what a trade actually costs, and a demo account The full gold comparison, including swap and leverage, is on gold trading brokers, and the apps themselves — publishers, ratings and where they are available — on forex trading apps.
